A Delhi court today deferred the pronouncement of sentence against a teacher of a reputed music school here for outraging the modesty of a 10-year-old student almost five years ago.
Metropolitan Magistrate Geetanjali Goel, who was to pronounce the sentence against convict Dileep Soloman after hearing the arguments, adjourned the matter for November 7.
Soloman, who was working as a piano teacher at Delhi School of Music, was earlier held guilty under section 354 (outraging modesty of woman) and 509 (making indecent gesture to insult a woman) of IPC.
The convict faces a sentence up to two years in jail or fine or both.
The court, in its judgement, relied on the testimony of the minor victim saying it was credible.
It also said the allegation that the girl had a motive to implicate him was not proved.
An FIR was lodged under various provisions of IPC against the teacher on the complaint of the girl that he had outraged her modesty on February 27 and March 19 in 2004 in the school premises.
She also alleged the teacher used filthy language and made indecent gestures at her.
