Nearly a thousand junior doctors today once again ruled out the possibility of withdrawing indefinite strike that continued to cripple the functioning of Patna and Darbhanga medical colleges for the sixth consecutive day.
"The medicos remain on strike at both the hospitals where functioning has been crippled. We have no plans to withdraw the stir unless the state government fulfils its promise of enhancing the stipend from Rs13000 to Rs25000 per month," Patna Medical college junior doctor's association spokesman Naqi Imam said.
"We are also unhappy with the state's indifferent attitude to hold a meeting with us to find an amicable solution to the impasse," he said.
Meanwhile, the state government was considering tough measures against the striking post-graduate students of Patna and Darbhanga medical colleges if they failed to resume duty soon.
"The action against the medicos may include rustication from the institutions or cancellation of their registration," a senior health department official said.
"This strike is illegal and unjustified as we have already initiated steps to redress their grievances," state health minister NK Yadav said.
