Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) will take out a march to parliament in New Delhi on Thursday to demand an immediate end to arrests of Muslim youth in "false cases".

SIO leaders condemned the arrests of innocent Muslim youth across the country on false charges.

Addressing a news conference here, they said that through the parliament march, they would try to highlight the problem and create public awareness.

"Illegal arrest of Muslim youths across the country is a matter of serious concern. It has become routine for the police and investigating agencies to arrest Muslim youth and implicate in false cases," said Atif Ismail, president of SIO's Andhra Pradesh unit.

"These arrests are meant to suppress the morale of Muslim community and subject them to identity crisis," said Ismail.

The SIO demanded that fast track courts be set up to try cases of illegal arrests so that the victims got speedy justice. It also sought rehabilitation of those acquitted by courts.

Another SIO leader Mujahid said arrests without warrant were unacceptable. He demanded that Supreme Court orders must be followed while arresting any suspect.

The SIO also demanded that communal violence bill be tabled and passed in the winter session of parliament. It hoped that the bill would provide protection to Muslims during communal riots.
