Taking serious note of infightings and fractionalism in Delhi BJP, party president Nitin Gadkari today strictly asked all its leaders to leave behind their differences and work unitedly to strengthen the
organisation in the national capital.
Gadkari, in a meeting with the party MLAs here, categorically made it clear that indiscipline will not be tolerated and that all the leaders must focus on regaining the confidence of the people in the city.
Asking the party leaders to strengthen the party at grassroot level, he also directed leader of opposition in Delhi assembly VK Malhotra to develop a vision document for ensuring all round development of the city.
Replying to a question on how he would tackle the problem of fractionalism in city BJP, Gadkari only said he would "take care" of it. "I will take care of it. I am preparing an agenda for the Delhi unit," he told reporters after the meeting.
A senior BJP leader said Gadkari asked "us work unitedly to strengthen the party. He also asked us to work with a positive attitude." The party has been grappling with fractionalism and infightings with senior leaders blaming each other for the electoral debacles in both the assembly and Lok Sabha elections.
The party had to even postpone organisational polls to elect new district presidents in the city because of the internal differences. The election was scheduled to take place today.
On whether leaders like Malhotra and current city unit chief OP Kohli who have crossed 70 would be replaced by young leaders, Gadkari said the party always grooms young leaders. "I am example of that."
"Our party is playing the role of an Opposition in Delhi well. I have asked Malhotra to develop a vision document for Delhi," he said. Observing that Delhi needs to improve its infrastructure to take care of increasing migrant population, he said a proper vision was necessary to improve peoples' lives.
"Lack of vision is a big problem in our country. If we have political will and vision then money will never be a problem for any project...if there is a will there is a way" he said.
Gadkari said PPP model should be adopted for various important projects. He also asked the party leaders to address the problems of the poor, labourers and low income group people.
