Justice Akil Kureshi of Gujarat high court has stayed investigation against Lisa Warden, a foreign national who is campaigning in the city against cruelty on stray dogs.

The court has adjourned the case on September 29 by issuing notices to the state government, Inspector of the Danilimda police station and Municipal Commissioner of Ahmedabad.

Warden, who is running an NGO called Dogstop, has been facing allegations of taking away iron tongs from the Cattle Menace Control Department (CMCD) of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation (AMC) on June 14.

Warden submitted in her petition that, "She had not taken away the iron tongs without the consent of the municipal officials and that he had handed over the iron tongs voluntarily.

She further stated that, "If the tongs were not given voluntarily, the supervisor would not have given it in writing that he would never use the tongs again as he had specifically agreed and submitted in writing to her on the spot."

Lisa is running a campaign for the right methods of sterilisation and capturing stray dogs. She was protesting against the alleged method of AMC to capture dogs by using iron tongs.
