Facing a setback with Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee indicating at further delay in taking a decision on the statehood issue, Telangana protestors are now in a state of confusion. Not knowing how to respond, the Telangana joint action committee (JAC) and the TRS chief K Chandrasekhara Rao now plan  to visit Delhi again to ‘make the finance minister understand the real situation’.

“There are two ways to deal with the situation. First, we will go to Delhi again to tell Mukherjee and others in the Congress the gravity of the situation. Secondly, we will further intensify the protests in Andhra so that the Centre will understand the seriousness of the situation,” a JAC leader said.

Meanwhile, the Congress core committee is also expected to meet shortlyfor a detailed discussion on the issue. According to sources, Ghulam Nabi Azad has submitted yet another report on the state of affairs in Andhra Pradesh to Sonia Gandhi, which is expected to come up for discussion at the next core committee meeting.

In a major twist to the resignation threats being given by the Congress leaders from Telangana, governor ESL Narasimhan has approved the resignation submitted by infrastructure minister Komatireddy Venkat Reddy on Wednesday. “With more resignations seen in the pipeline, the chief minister was keen on sending out a clear message that the resignations should not be used as part of pressure tactics to achieve statehood to the region,” a source explained.
