If Dinesh MN, an IPS officer of the Rajasthan cadre, who is currently in jail in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case, is to be believed, Sohrabuddin was a key operative of Rasul Party, a Pakistan-based gangster, who is the main conspirator in the killing of former Gujarat home minister, Haren Pandya, in March 2003 and Akshardham terrorist attack case.
This revelation has been made in the Sohrabuddin case chargesheet filed by the CBI, sources in the probe agency said.
Dinesh MN, former SP of Udaipur, is behind bars for the last three years in the Sohrab fake encounter case.
The IPS officer had written a letter to his senior officers after the alleged fake encounter on November 25, 2005. He narrated the nefarious activities of Sohrabuddin Sheikh in Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Dinesh categorically termed Sohrabuddin a key operative of the Pakistan-based terrorist organisation, Lashkar-e-Toiba, and said he was involved in anti-national activities in the country.
Dinesh further stated that Sohrab was an aide of Rasul Party, the main conspirator in Haren Pandya murder and Akshardham terrorist attack cases. Rasul Party is a former gangster and aide of Abdul Latif. According to police records, Party fled to Pakistan as police built pressure on him after his name cropped up in many cases of anti-national activities.
The CBI, which also investigated the Haren Pandya murder case from 2003, had listed Rasul Party as an absconder in its chargesheet. He continues to remain at large. It is pertinent to note that Azam Khan, an accomplice of Sohrabuddin, recently told CBI that senior cop Abhay Chudasama (now arrested) had told Rubabuddin, brother of Sohrabuddin, that he had saved Sohrab from getting involved in the Haren Pandya case.
Azam Khan was sent to Rubabuddin's house with the 'offer' of Chudasama to withdraw his petition seeking a CBI probe into the Sohrab fake encounter case.
