For the first time in Gujarat, all gurudwaras across the state are coming under a single umbrella with an aim to spread values of Sikhism in the state.

Gujarat Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (GGPC), a recently formed body encompassing 34 gurudwaras of the state, will organise a 2-day devotional Atmaras Kirtan Samagam, on June 18-19 from 7-11pm at Manekbaug hall, near Nehrunagar cross roads, Ambawadi.

"Atmaras Kirtan Samagam is first-of-its-kind programme, as it will be organised outside the gurudwara," said Vishal Singh, coordinator of the committee. It is also the first programme after the formation of GGPC, Singh said, adding that GGPC will work according to the guidelines set by Shiromani Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee at Shri Amritsar Sahib.

Apart from Kirtan Samagam at Manekbaug, Gurudwara Shri Guru Singh Sabha, located at Shri Teg Bahadur Marg, Dudheshwar will organise devotional programmes on June 19, from 9am to 1:30pm. GGPC has invited classical music maestro Padmashri Bhai Nirmal Singhji Khalsa of Darbar Sahib of Shri Amritsar to perform at these functions.

"Bhai Lakhbir Singhji, Gyani Jaswant Singhji and Bhai Surjit Singhji Rasila of Delhi based Bangla Sahib Gurudwara will also remain present on this occasion," informed Mohanjit Singh Bagga, president of GGPC.
