A shopkeeper and his son were today shot dead, when one unidentified youngster opened fire on them in a market here.

The incident occurred at around 7.30 p.m., when a Sikh youth came into a mobile shop and asked for recharging his mobile and suddenly opened firing on him and his son, police sources said.
    
The shopkeeper identified as Ashwani Bagga (45) was killed on the spot, while, his critically injured son identified as Ashu (20) was rushed to a nearby private hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries, police added.
   
When contacted DSP Parminder Singh said that investigation was on to know whether it was a case of personal rivalry.
    
A case of murder has been registered in the concerned police station and dead bodies were sent to local civil hospital for post-mortem, sources added.
