Seven more cases with symptoms of swine flu were registered at New civil hospital (NCH) here on Wednesday.

All the patients have been admitted to isolation ward of the hospital. District administration also held a meeting with health officials of SMC and NCH to chalk out plan of action.

Surtis thronged to New civil hospital for check-up. More than 200-300 patients were checked out of which, seven were found of having symptoms of swine flu. The patients came from different areas of the city and for one or other reason they returned from either Mumbai or Pune. Blood, throat swab and viscera samples of these patients have been sent to NICD for further testing.

BJP MP, CR Patil, visited isolation ward of the hospital and met with the patients. He also held a meeting with the doctors posted in the ward. Patil assured of all kinds of assistance to patients and hospital administration and said that a representation will be made before central government for taking proactive steps.

District collector Dilip Raval along with municipal commissioner S Aparna held a meeting with heath officials of SMC and NCH. They discussed preventive steps needed for preventing further spread of the infection. A video conference was held between state health minister Jaynarayan Vyas and health commissioner Amarjeet Singh, in which Dilip Raval and S Aparna apprised Vyas of the steps being taken to limit the spread of the virus.

Even though there has been no positive case of H1N1 in the city, people have been making a beeline to buy masks. Conscious Surtis could be seen wearing masks, while traveling. The sale of mask is has increased many folds but there has not been any complaint of any medical store charging higher prices for masks.
