Seven killed in road mishaps in Maharashtra

Six persons were killed in a road mishap when the ambulance carrying them collided with a truck coming from opposite direction at Dongargaon village in Akola, police said today.

Six persons were killed in a road mishap when the ambulance carrying them collided with a truck coming from opposite direction at Dongargaon village in Akola, police said today.

The accident took place last night when the victims including a person who had consumed poison, were being taken to a nearby hospital, after the New Year celebrations, they said.

The deceased were identified as Sachin Pachde, Ajmat Shah, Ashok Chavan, Munira Shah, Bhavsing Jadhav and Vinayak Chavan, police said.

Another person who was seriously injured in the mishap is battling for life in a general hospital here.

In another accident at Akot-Hiwarkhed road, one person was killed and another was injured  when their motorbike slipped and dashed against a pillar late last night, police said.
