Security forces today combed the jungles at Jamboni, near Jharkhand border, in West Midnapore district for elusive Maoist leader Suchitra Mahato who is believed to be hiding there and other guerrillas.
Sources believed that Suchitra, widow of Maoist leader Sasadhar Mahato, was hiding in the jungles of Jamboni on the border with Jharkhand after surviving the fierce gunbattle at Burisole forest last Thursday in which Kishenji was killed.
Two CID officers visited the spot in Burisole forest where Kishenji's bullet-riddled body was found, as part of an investigation into the Maoist politburo member's gory death in the wake of allegations that he was eliminated in a 'fake encounter'.
They went to the anthill where the body was found. The area has been cordoned off by tying yellow ribbons around the trunks of sal trees.
Meanwhile, the two-day bandh, called by Maoists to protest against the death of Kishenji in alleged fake
encounter has affected parts of Maoist-hit West Midnapore, Bankura and Purulia districts on its second day.
Security forces also went to Goaltore in West Midnapore district where they found Maoist posters urging local people to support the bandh.
