Tamil Nadu police on Friday arrested VK Diwakaran, younger brother of Sasikala, a former close aide of chief minister Jayalalithaa. Diwakaran was held following a criminal complaint by Kasturi, a resident of Thiruvarur, who said he along with his friends had demolished her house.
He has been remanded till February 16 and sent to Trichy Prison. Diwakaran is the second person to be arrested from the Sasikala clan, who is alleged to have wielded power both in the ruling AIADMK party and in the State administration through her influence in the Poes Garden.
Ravanan, another relative of Sasikala was arrested on charges of cheating a businessman to the tune of Rs1 crore.
