After the Central decision to restore State Advised Price (SAP) for sugarcane, the Uttarakhand government today said it would wait for an amendment in Parliament in this regard.

"We will wait till Parliament amends the recent ordinance on sugarcane which has put the burden of SAP on state government," Sugarcane minister Madan Kaushik said.

The moment the ordinance is amended in Parliament, the government would take no time to declare the SAP, he said.

Kaushik also indicated that the new crushing season would begin after the declaration of SAP.

Sugarcane farmers are up in arms in the state demanding "right" price for their produce.
