A man who uploaded pictures of actor Salman Khan and asked for donations for causes close to his (Khan’s) heart has been nabbed by sleuths of the anti-terrorist Squad (ATS).
The accused Gathiya Balam Pathan based in Surat was arrested on the basis of a tip-off received by the ATS. According to sources, in 2004 Pathan had uploaded the photograph of the actor on a site and had given his own phone number below the picture. He then urged the people to call him to donate for various causes that were close to his (actor’s) heart.
Sources said that posing as Khan, Pathan talked to various people both here and abroad.
They also received three expensive mobile phones from him all of which were given as gift to ‘Salman Khan’. Sources said that Pathan had also received more than Rs1 lakh in the form of charity from a woman abroad.Pathan is in remand right now.
