RSS opposes FDI in retail

The RSS chief said the government of India should take efforts to create a favourable atmosphere for Indians living abroad.

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat on Sunday said the Centre's decision to allow FDI in multi-brand retail would adversely affect small-scale traders in the country.

Replying to queries of RSS volunteers at the 'Chaitanya Shivir' here, Bhagwat said the decision to allow FDI in retail would hurt common traders who are not prepared to compete with multinational companies.

He said the RSS opposes the decision of the central government to allow FDI in retail, according to a release here.

The RSS chief said the government of India should take efforts to create a favourable atmosphere for Indians living abroad.

Bhagwat also said the government should accord refugee status to the Hindus who came to India from Pakistan following religious persecution.
