In what could be an excellent script for a crime thriller, two unidentified men walked into a bank, brandished a pistol and coolly walked away with Rs6 lakh.

The real life inspiration for the crime thriller happened at the branch of Bank of India at transportnagar near Narol circle. The incident happened on Tuesday evening when two unidentified people stormed into the cabin of the cashier in the Bank of India. The duo brandished a country made pistols and asked the cashier to give them the money.

Fearing for his life, the cashier Hasmukh Gohil opened the cash register and gave the duo Rs6 lakh. As soon as the accused left, he informed his manager.  The manager then informed the police control room. Within minutes, a team of the Vatva police arrived at the spot to review the situation. Sources close to the development said that CCTV cameras were switched off when the incident happened.  Sources said there is no information about the vehicles used by the accused.

However, officials said that sketches of the accused have been sent to various police stations in the state. The accused are believed to be in their early 20s. When contacted, JCP sector-2, Atul Karwal told DNA, “Vehicles are being checked to locate the culprits.

A nakabandi has also been ordered at all important routes of the state so as to prevent their escape,” Karwal said. Karwal, however, said that no specific leads were available in the case. He said that those responsible for the dacoity will be nabbed as soon as possible. Sources had earlier said that a gang targeting banks and temples was operating in the city.

A similar incident of dacoity in the Progressive Co-operative Bank located near Parimal Garden some months back is yet to be solved.
