Rs3lakh cash, gold ornaments looted in Coimbatore

Unidentified persons decamped with Rsthree lakh and gold ornaments weighing 20 sovereigns, from a house in Mettupalayam, near here, when the inmates of the house were sleeping in the early hours today.

Police said the head of the family, running a saw mill business, had kept rs.three lakh in a bag last night on his table,before going to bed.

When he woke up in the morning, he found the bag and gold ornaments kept in an almirah missing. The group had gained entry into the house through the backdoor, which was found broken open, police said.
