Rourkela Steel Plant provides scholarship to underprivileged children

Each student from class one to five received a scholarship of Rs10,800 per annum, while children from higher classes got a scholarship of Rs12,000 per annum.

Altogether 99 underprivileged children residing in the periphery areas of Rourkela were provided scholarship worth Rs11.28 lakh.
   
The students studying in class 1st to 10th had been drawn from various peripheral villages, resettlements colonies, reclaimation blocks and reclaimation camps.
   
Each student from class one to five received a scholarship of Rs10,800 per annum, while children from higher classes got a scholarship of Rs12,000 per annum.
   
Managing director of Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP), S N Singh presented the scholarship at a function here today. Singh exhorted the parents to effectively utilise the money for motivating the children to achieve their academic goals.
   
The scholarship scheme was launched in 2007-08 with the objective of encouraging students belonging to the marginalised sections from the periphery areas to pursue their academic ambitions.
      
In the last two years 200 students had been given this scholarship amounting to about Rs22.5 lakh as per the selection of district administration, RSP sources said.
