Expressing concern over reports of excesses by security forces in Jammu and Kashmir, LJP today demanded revoking of the Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) in the state.
"We strongly condemn the protection given to the Army in the form of AFSPA. Before tackling terrorism in the Valley, government should first tackle the excesses by security forces against our own people by withdrawing the Act," LJP Secretary General Abdul Khaliq said here.
He was reacting to a media report that the Home Ministry in last four years had rejected at least 42 requests to sanction prosecution of military personnel found involved by the police in crimes such as murder, homicide and rape in Kashmir.
