CBI prosecutor UU Lalit squarely blamed the Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) for the 2G spectrum scam before the Delhi high court on Tuesday.

Opposing the bail pleas of five corporate executives
who were charge-sheeted by the CBI, Lalit said, “All three officials of ADAG [Gautam Doshi, Hari Nair and Surendra Pipara] forged the documents for making SWAN telecommunications, which is the root cause of this scam. The created SWAN telecom was made with an intention to cheat DOT.”

“All the transactions from Reliance telecommunications to Swan were routed through these three officials. They prepared false minutes of board meetings and appointed some people to look as if the company’s affairs are managed by different people,” Lalit said, adding that SWAN was used as a tool for getting dual based licence for Reliance telecommunications.

Opposing the bail plea of DB realty’s promoter Vinod Goenka, Lalit said that he cannot be granted bail only on the ground that their company is suffering huge losses. On Sanjay Chandra of Unitech, he said, “Unitech Wireless was one of the eight companies of Unitech after the 2G licence was awarded to it and after the allocation every company benefited from it. So claiming that he was not part of one company won’t hold any ground.”

He also said that Unitech and DB Realty were given environmental clearances when former telecom minister A Raja was heading after the environment ministry.

The arguments could not conclude on Tuesday and will resume on Friday.
