There may be a twist in the case of rape and murder of the Ahmedabad girl, whose body was found on Jaipur-Beawar road on Monday. Rajasthan police are now investigating a blackmailing angle in the murder.

The new line of probe follows the reported statement of the accused, Satish Sharma, to the Rajasthan police that he had so far paid at least Rs30,000 to the victim.

A police source told DNA, "Sharma has said in his statement that he knew the girl closely and that he had been shelling out money to her at regular intervals, as she had started blackmailing her."

At the moment, it appears, police are still trying to find out if the allegation is true and
also why Sharma was being blackmailed.

"The accused has said that he had been giving money to the girl, but things took a turn for the worse when she demanded more money from him," sources said. Sharma has already confessed to the offence.

He has stated that he along with an accomplice Yadav committed the crime. In his statement to the Rajasthan police, Sharma has also claimed to be impotent.

The Rajasthan police took custody of Sharma who was arrested by Madhupura police in connection with the crime.

According to police, Sharma during the interrogation confessed that he along with one Yadav had abducted Ritu.

The victim was a student of fashion designing at an institute in Jaipur and was leaving in the city on rent.
