Following Union government's directive, ministers in Rajasthan will file their declaration of property and liabilities to the chief minister by August 31 every year.

Disclosing this, chief minister Ashok Gehlot told media persons that the declaration would not be made public and there would be riders for those who have property and liabilities disproportionate to their known source of income.

However, this condition would not be applicable to MLAs, Gehlot said, adding this was the routine exercise at Centre where Union Ministers used to file declaration to prime minister and now this system would be developed in the state too.

This time the ministers would file their declaration for the current fiscal year and at the time of filing IT returns, Gehlot said.

When asked whether the CMO would be able to take action against those who show assets more than their income, Gehlot said there were a number of riders as per the code of conduct implemented by the Central government and it would be followed where ever required.

This document can not be made public or placed in the House as it would invite unnecessary debate and criticism, he said.
