Congress candidate Raj Babbar was leading over his nearest Samajwadi Party rival Dimple Yadav by over 2000 votes in Firozabad Lok Sabha seat while the ruling BSP was ahead in 10 of the 11 assembly seats where bypolls were held last week.
At the end of two rounds of counting, actor-turned- politician Babbar consolidated his lead over Samajwadi Party supremo Mulayam Singh's daughter-in-law.
The ruling BSP candidates were leading in Powayan, Isauli, Hainsar Bazar, Padrauna, Kolasala, Rari, Etawah, Bharthana, Lalitpur and Jhansi, election department sources said.
In Lucknow (west) seat, considered a stronghold of BJP, Bukkal Nawab of SP and Shyam Kishore Shukla of Congress were neck and neck. BJP nominee Amit Puri was at third place at the end of three rounds of counting.
