Rahul, Priyanka review works of women self help groups

Amethi: Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi and his sister Priyanka today visited Rajiv Gandhi Mahila Vikas Pariyojna headquarters in Jias here and reviewed works undertaken by women self help groups.

Rahul and Priyanka, who arrived this morning, will also visit Khalidpur village in Jais town where they will interact with people at an adult education centre, party sources said here.

Later, the two will review various centrally sponsored schemes, including scholarship scheme, mid-day meal in Jias, they said.

Party sources said that they will also visit Mangerua village in Gauriganj later in the day.

Meanwhile, elaborate security arrangements have been made for the brother-sister duo by the state police.

"Required number of police force has been sent to the Sultanpur district for ensuring security of both Rahul and Priyanka. Security of these two is our priority," additional
director general, law and order, AK Jain said here yesterday.

Earlier Union home ministry had sent a letter to the state police raising concern over Rahul's security.

Jain said the Union ministry had pointed out towards crowd control, deployment of advance security teams and checking intrusion in the cavalcade.

Necessary directives on these lines have been issued to the concerning officers and this time no one, including media would be allowed to enter the cavalcade, he said.
