"The CPI-M should end its politics of violence and Youth Congress workers should not get provoked by attempts by that party at a time when elections are drawing closer," he said.
Taking on the CPI-M in its bastion, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi today slammed it for indulging in "politics of violence" and asked Youth Congress workers not to get provoked by it ahead of civic and Assembly elections in the state.
"The CPI-M should end its politics of violence and Youth Congress workers should not get provoked by attempts by that party at a time when elections to civic bodies and the state Assembly are drawing closer," he said.
Interacting with YC workers from four northern districts, he said there would be attempts by CPI-M to provoke and create violence but Youth Congress activists should not fall in the trap.
CPI-M was trying was to impose things found in "pages of old books", he said, seeking to convey that its ideology was out of sync with the changing times.
Asserting that groupism would not be tolerated in the Youth Congress at any cost, Gandhi said factionalism and right
to express opinions were different.
Suppressing freedom of expression was the policy of the Communists and not that of a democratic party like Congress,
he claimed.
He, however, cautioned that freedom of expression should not be at the cost of organisational stability and should be helpful to solve problems amicably.
Gandhi said a system for conduct of regular organisational
polls in Youth Congress would be evolved so that imposing of
leaders on workers through "parachute system" was eliminated.
Paying rich tributes to Keralites' "creative potential, dedication and hard work", Gandhi said Malayali youth could play a dynamic role in Indian politics.
The AICC general secretary said he had a first hand experience of the potential of Malayali youth during a visit to Dubai recently.
