Vishwa Hindu Parishad's (VHP) international working president, Dr Pravin Togadia, on Sunday demanded that the Centre's decision to give Muslims 4.5 percent reservation, be withdrawn immediately. He alleged that reservation for the minority community (carved from the 27% reservation granted to OBCs) will divide the country.

Togadia was in the city to attend the Trishul Diksha ceremony held near Avkar Hall in Ghodasar for the newly recruited cadres of the Bajrang Dal. The Dal is a sister organisation of the VHP for youths. The function was organised by the local unit of the Bajrang Dal to felicitate Togadia who was recently appointed international working president of the VHP. Earlier, he was the international general secretary of the organisation.

"The Congress-led UPA government has, in a hurry, given 4.5% quota to Muslims out of the 27% reservation given to poor OBCs. It is a blatant violation of the Constitution and is aimed at destroying the majority community's democratic rights," alleged Togadia.

The VHP has announced a "nationwide, peaceful and democratic agitation" that will be called 'Hindu Roti Bachao Andolan' (Save the bread of Hindus agitation).
