Punjab Vigilance continues its drive to nab corrupt officials

Chandigarh: Punjab Vigilance Bureau, in its drive against corruption in public life, has arrested two gazzetted officers and 11 non-gazzetted officers in thirteen different cases last month.

The VB was also able to secure the conviction of 15 accused in thirteen different vigilance cases, a Bureau official said.

Rajinder Singh, SP, VB, said that during October, the Vigilance had nabbed thirteen alleged corrupt public officials red handedly accepting bribes in thirteen different cases which include four revenue officials and two gazzetted officers.

An official release here today quoting Singh said that the special courts have sentenced fifteen accused including one gazetted officer and 12 non gazetted officers and two private persons after finding them guilty for one year to two years imprisonment with fines in thirteen different vigilance cases.

He said the Bureau has put up its best efforts to eradicate corruption amongst public officials and others in every sphere in the state.
