The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will campaign aggressively for presidential candidate PA Sangma across the country, party officials said on Thursday after a meeting attended by president Nitin Gadkari and LK Advani among others.

On the day when both ruling United Progressive Alliance's (UPA) candidate Pranab Mukherjee and Sangma filed their nominations, the BJP's core group met here and decided to campaign for the former Lok Sabha speaker in all the states which have legislators and parliamentarians from the party.

"The BJP will launch a campaign for Sangma, and the failures of the UPA will be the key point," BJP leader Ananth Kumar told reporters.

"They are misusing the CBI to get support for their candidate. We will fight against this," he said.

BJP office-bearers will meet July 2 and prepare a final road map for the campaign.

Party president Gadkari, Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi, Sushma Swaraj, Rajnath Singh, Venkaiah Naidu and Ananth Kumar were present in the meeting.
