In a new twist to the mysterious death of two children of Asaram Gurukul, Amrut Lal Prajapati, a former sadhak of the ashram retracted his statements about black magic being performed there.
In his deposition before Justice DK Trivedi Commission, Prajapati had stated that he saw Asaram Bapu's son Narayan Sai performing black magic on the two children Dipesh and Abhishek.
Prajapati retracted his statements following cross examination by Chandrashekar Gupta counsel for the ashram. "During cross examination, Prajapati admitted that he had not seen any black magic being performed by Asaram and Narayan Sai in the ashram," said Gupta. Moreover, the counsel for the ashram also produced a CD which contained the confessional statements of Prajapati.
Earlier, on September 2009, Prajapati in his deposition had said that he had seen Asaram performing black magic and also saw him in the company of women several times in the ashram.
Prajapti, who had served in the ashram for twelve years, left the ashram in 2005 over some disputes with Asaram and other sadhaks.Prajapti also alleged in his deposition that he was being constantly threatened by members of the ashram after he gave statements against the ashram. Asaram has been in trouble since the mysterious death of Dipesh and Abhishek Vaghela.
Recently, Asaram was accused of instigating an attack on his former disciple, Raju Chandak.Chandak is a key witness in a judicial inquiry into the death of the two boys who were studying at the ashram.
Chandak, who used to be Asaram's secretary, testified that Asaram and his son practiced black magic. He also claimed that he quit the ashram after he discovered that women sadhaks were being molested.
