President, PM celebrate Rakshabandhan with children

President Pratibha Patil and prime minister Manmohan Singh celebrated Rakshabandhan today with groups of children.

Patil met the children at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

Singh and his wife Gursharan Kaur invited schoolchildren to their official residence. The children tied colourful rakhis on the prime minister's wrist.

Physically challenged and differently-abled children also participated in celebrations.

The dignitaries also offered sweets to the children.

Raksha Bandhan festival celebrates the bond between a brother and his sister. 

The president, vice-president Hamid Ansari and the prime minister have greeted the people on the occasion.
