President Pratibha Patil may cancel her scheduled visit to Hyderabad for a southern sojourn from December 28 because of the prevailing turmoil over the Telangana statehood issue.

Though the Rashtrapati Bhavan has so far not sent any official communication about the change in her programme, official sources here said the president might instead go to Goa now.

The president was scheduled to visit Hyderabad and stay in the Rashtrapati Nilayam at Bollarum here from December 28 to January 6.

But her trip to Hyderabad may be cancelled because of the prevailing situation over the Telangana issue.

When contacted, the state government's special secretary (protocol) Ramana Reddy said they have not yet received any official communication from the President's office about the cancellation of her trip.
