President Pratibha Patil today hosted an Iftar party at Rashtrapati Bhavan, which was attended by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, vice-president Hamid Ansari and several Congress leaders and diplomats.
Besides Congress chief Sonia Gandhi, members of Union council of ministers including home minister P Chidambaram and chief information commissioner Wajahat Habibullah and a host of religious leaders also attended the party organised at majestic Ashoka Hall of the Bhavan.
Pakistan high vommissioner to India Shahid Malik and diplomatic corps of other countries attended the grand Iftar party.
Iftar is a religious observance and referred to the evening meal which the people of the Muslim community take after ending their day-long fast during the Islamic month of Ramzan.
