Police sub-inspector shoots at thief in self-defence

A Police sub-inspector fired at a notorious thief in self-defence when he tried to attack him with a knife today and took him into custody, police said.

Ramesh,involved in over 20 cases of theft, sustained injuries on his left hand and was admitted to a government hospital where he was recovering, police said.

Acting on information that Ramesh was hanging around near Asian Games Village in Koramangala, the police team headed by SI Sharana Gowda went there and while trying to apprehend him was attacked with a knife. He then fired a round in self-defence, injuring Ramesh on his hand, police said.
