Police patrolling to be increased in Ahmedabad

Commissioner of police Sudhir Sinha said that a few more motorbikes with policemen will be added to the patrolling and 73 points in Ahmedabad had been identified for checking.

Commissioner of police Sudhir Sinha on Friday announced that, in view of increased cases of theft and chain snatching, police patrolling in the city will be strengthened. Sinha said that 20 motorbikes with policemen will be added to the patrolling. Of these, 10 bikes will have cops in uniform while the 10 others will have plainclothes policemen. He also said that 73 points in Ahmedabad had been identified for checking.

The commissioner also added that mainly 20- to 25-year-old youths were the ones involved in most of the crimes of this kind and thus they will be thoroughly checked. Also, those youths going on 'triples' or riding three people on a two-wheeler will come under the police scanner, he added.
