Stating that evidence was being collected on fresh charges filed against former Haryana DGP SPS Rathore, Panchkula Police today said any further action in the Ruchika molestation case will be taken only after completion of a detailed investigation.

Two FIRs were registered against 67-year-old Rathore last night on the basis of complaints by Ruchika's father Subhash Chander Girhotra and her brother Ashu regarding alleged tampering of the post-mortem report by police and harassment of Ashu including attempt to murder him.

"Investigations are on (in connection with the two FIRs registered last night). We will collect evidence, including oral, before taking any further action," Superintendent of Police (SP) Maneesh Chaudhary told PTI here.

"Action against whosoever is guilty will be taken only after that (completion of investigation)" he said, in response to a query on whether any action against Rathore was expected immediately.

Rathore faces imminent arrest as the local district sessions judge SP Singh did not give him DGP any relief in the form of interim bail after his wife counsel Abha, while seeking anticipatory bail, told the court that they did not have copies of the fresh FIRs and came to know about the charges only from the media.

The noose around the former Haryana top cop found guilty of molesting 14-year-old Ruchika, who later committed suicide, was tightened last night with the police registering two FIRs and moves were afoot to file a fresh case of abetment of suicide.

Immediately after the court verdict, Rathore and his wife left the court premises in a private vehicle without answering any questions from the media persons.

To repeated queries from the media at the gate of his residence in Sector six, he said, "the day you satisfy me that you have the constitutional power to question me I will reply." His wife, who was beside him, also did not take any question.
