Prime Minister Manmohan Singh has called a meeting on Thursday to discuss the issue of poverty line cap fixed by the Planning Commission which sparked an outcry from various quarters.

Singh will discuss the issue with Deputy Chairman of Planning Commission Montek Singh Ahluwalia and other members of the panel tomorrow, sources said.

Planning Commission's affidavit in the Supreme Court that fixed poverty line at Rs 32 per capita per day in urban area and Rs26 in rural area had sparked criticism from various quarters, with many urging the panel to give it a relook.

Planning Commission had later distanced itself from the Rs32 poverty line yardstick presented to the Supreme Court saying that it was based on the report of Tendulkar Committee.
