PM Manmohan Singh leaves for Washington

New Delhi: Prime minister Manmohan Singh left here today for Washington on a State Visit to the US during which the two countries are expected to take their bilateral relationship to a new level.

After a over-night stay here, Singh left for the US capital, where a red carpet welcome awaits him as he lands at the Andrews Air Force Base.

Tomorrow, he will address the US Chamber of Commerce as well as the Senate Foreign Relations Committee.

On Tuesday, the prime minister will hold discussions with president Barack Obama and other top officials of the US. That evening, Obama will host State Dinner for Singh.

Singh's visit is the first State Visit of the Obama Administration.
