The 2010 placement for students of Post Graduate Programme for Agro Business Management (PGP-ABM) of the Indian Institute of Management, Ahmedabad (IIMA) came to an end on Saturday. The average pay package increased by around 13.5% this year.
The average compensation package for PGP ABM batch of 2010 stood at around Rs9.65 lakh per year, which is an increase of 13.5% over last years' figure of Rs8.5 lakh per annum.
However, the number of companies participating in the recruitment dro pped from 25 last year to 19 this year.
Prominent recruiters this year included Harrison Malayalam Limited (RPG group), ITC Ltd, Britannia and Amazan Agri.
Recruiters like Godrej Agrovet also offered pre-placement offers to the students of the programme.
The placement also saw the presence of new recruiters like IFMR Capital, Microlabs, and Technopak.
According to placement chairperson, Professor Saral Mukherjee the PGP ABM students at IIMA come from a variety of related domains like agricultural engineering, dairy technology, food technology and veterinary science among others.
"The variety of roles on offer allowed students to select a career of their choice," Mukherjee said.
