In what can be described as a triumph of will over physical handicap, an Amdavadi youth who suffers from extreme low vision has cleared his post graduation course from IIM Bangalore, and has also secured a placement with an IT company.
Gaganbeer Singh Chhabra, 23, who is born and brought up in Ahmedabad suffered eye related problems when he was just nine.Later, this left him with 80% to 90% vision loss. But, this did not make Gaganbeer lose his passion and courage and he was also helped by the Blind People's Association, Ahmedabad.
In spite of the physical handicap and other setbacks, Gaganbeer completed his post graduation from the premier institute, and also got placed in a leading IT company for a handsome package. "I cannot reveal the name of the company or the package due to non-disclosure agreement, but it is a leading MNC. I will soon be joining the company as a financial business analyst in Bangalore," an ecstatic Gaganbeer, told DNA.
Gaganbeer is not only a bright student, but has also taken part in numerous debates and quizzes, and is also an enthusiastic drummer. 'Dream big' and 'nothing is impossible' are the mantras he lives by.
He studied in St. Xavier's High School in Mirzapur and HL Institute of Commerce, before securing admission in IIM Bangalore.
Even as his vision continues to deteriorate, Gaganbeer has set high goals for himself.
"I am not afraid of dreaming, and my dreams are what drive me. I want to be in Harvard in five years from now. By 2020, I want to start my own consultancy firm," says Gaganbeer. Shelly Bapna, PRO of Blind People's Association, said Gaganbeer was a role-model for thousands of people who give up their dreams due to physical handicaps.
