Pakistan violates ceasefire again in Samba district of Jammu

Violating the ceasefire yet again, Pakistan Rangers fired indiscriminately and targeted an Indian border out post in Samba district with rocket projectile grenades (RPG) in the wee hours today.

"There was heavy firing and attacks of Rocket Projectile Grenades (RPGs) on Ballard BOP along the International Border in Samba sector around 0430 hours," deputy inspector general, BSF, G Oberoi told Press Trust of India.

BSF troops guarding the border took positions and retaliated resulting in an fierce exchange, which continued till 05:30hours, he said.

There was no loss of life or damage to property in the cross border firing and rocket attacks, he said, adding firing and RPG attacks were resorted to from Lahri Kalam area close to Imran Sheed post of Pakistan.

This was the third ceasefire violation by Pakistani troops this month.

On December 2, Pakistani troops had targeted several Indian posts twice with mortars and rockets and fired indiscriminately along the LoC in Poonch.

Armed with heavy guns and rocket launchers, Pakistani troops shelled Kirpan, Kirpan one, Chajja, Kranti, Ghoda, Nangi Tikri, Mandol forward posts along LoC in Krishnaghati sub-sector of Poonch district from 13:15 to 14:00hours and 14:30 to 18:00hours on that day triggering panic among border residents.
