Pakistan collects details of its fishermen in Gujarat jails

Nearly 60 fishermen have been kept in jails in Jamnagar and Bhuj and all of them were brought into the Central Jail yesterday for cross verification of their identity.

A three-member delegation of Pakistan High Commission visited Rajkot Central Jail to collect details of Pakistan fishermen kept in various jails in Saurashtra region.
       
The delegation, headed by Pakistan High Commission secretary Saiyad Muhammal, comprised Taisimullah Khankhan and Adil Khurshid. It visited Rajkot Central Jail yesterday and met the jail authorities and the Pakistan fishermen lodged in various jails in the region, according to the jail superintendent SI Vora. The delegation was accompanied by officials of the Indian Home Department.
       
The motive of the visit to the Central Jail was to collect details about Pakistan fishermen kept in jails in Saurashtra and to verify their identity, Vora said adding that most of the fishermen claimed to have drifted into Indian water territory by mistake.
      
The delegation will submit its report to Pakistan government to take necessary steps to get them released, sources said.
