Madhya Pradesh Congress president Suresh Pachouri lost his cool and allegedly pushed a party worker at the local airport, after he was mobbed by his partymen seeking nominations for the civic polls in the state, scheduled for next month.

As soon as Pachouri reached the Devi Ahilyabai Airport last night, he was chased by a large number of ticket aspirants, who had come with their supporters, party sources said.

When security officials stopped them from entering the airport, they turned angry and created unruly scenes, sources added.

Pachouri, who had come to attend a marriage ceremony got stuck and couldn't come out of the airport. He requested his partymen to let him go but they did not budge after which he lost his cool and pushed a party worker to get out of the airport, they said.

The local party unit, however, has downplayed the incident saying Pachouri only tried to control the enthusiastic partymen.

"Pachouri had neither misbehaved with any party worker nor pushed, slapped and punched anyone at the airport, Indore Congress president, Pramod Tandon said today.

"Pachouri is the head of the party in Madhya Pradesh, and it's his duty to control the enthusiastic partymen," he said.
