Overconfident fake cop lands in Ahmedabad jail

The overconfidence of an insurance agent, who wanted to take ‘law into his own hands’ by acting as a cop, got a bitter taste of cop service when his fake was caught. All this man wanted to do was influence police officials, to convert an application of dowry harassment filed by one Sumitra Yadav into a FIR.

However, the route he took was one of deceit as he posed as a sub inspector with a Chinese-made toy pistol which he tried to hard sell his ‘service revolver’. 

The way Chauhan walked into the Vastral police chowky, shouting at cops not in uniform, he almost succeeded to prove himself as a PSI. He was offered the officer’s chair to sit besides tea and snacks until they asked him for his identity card. The drama lasted for around an hour, till Harshad Chauhan (33), pleaded forgetfulness when he tried to explain the absence of his ID card. 

“When we asked for his identity card, he said he had forgotten it but showed us his service revolver, which we found was a toy pistol,” the cop said. The cover, however, was of pure leather.  

At the outset Chauhan identified himself as the town PSI of Nadiad police station. However, when cops, who smelt a rat in the entire drama, found out from their Nadiad counterparts that no cop named as Harshad Chauhan works there, they showed their true colours. Police filed a case against Chauhan for impersonating a cop. “He was arrested and will be produced in the court,” a cop from the Ramol police station said. Vastral police chowky falls under Ramol police station. Primary probe reveals Chauhan was given the idea by a cop.
