Organisation representing Ladakh opposes Sagir report

No member from Ladakh had represented at the 5th Working Group report headed by Justice Ahmed.

The Himalayan Buddhist Cultural Association (HBCA) today rejected Justice Sagir Ahmed's report which has shot down the demand for a Union Territory status for Ladakh, saying no one from the area got a chance to put forward views during the preparation of the report.
       
"No member from Ladakh had represented at the 5th Working Group report headed by Justice Ahmed. We reject this report as it is totally biased," HBCA president Tashi Targis told reporters here today.
   
Targis, who is advocating cause of people of Ladakh region for inclusion of Bhodi language in Eighth scheduled of Indian Constitution, said "We condemn Justice Sagir for rejecting the demand of Union Territory status for Ladakh in his report. It is politically motivated".
   
He said the report seems to be prepared under the "influence" of Congress and National Conference (NC), as both hese parties have taken an "anti-Ladakh" during last 25 years.
   
Highlighting the demands of people of Ladakh, he said Ladakhi people are struggling from last 25 years for their demands of inclusion of Bhodi language in 8th scheduled of Indian Constitution, reopening of Kailash Mansarovar road via Leh and freedom of Tibet.
