After her arrest by Ellisbridge police in a cheating case, one more victim targeted by Jenny Shukla has approached Navrangpura police. After cheating a businessman for Rs6 lakh, Jenny aka Mona, who claimed to be the president of BJP’s women cell of Gota ward, also allegedly tricked a senior citizen.
In his complaint to Navrangpura police on Monday, 82-year-old Nishchit Diwanjee alleged that Jenny (51) had assured him that she would help to settle a court case and took Rs20 lakh from him.
According to police, Diwanjee’s son, Digant, owns a business of installing air conditioners in Thaltej, while Jenny’s husband, Narendra Shukla, deals in stabilizers, because of which both knew each other well.
In 2011, Jenny took over the business after Narendra Shukla suffered a heart attack. During a casual meeting, Digant told her about their disputed land in Kanij village of Kheda district, for which his father was fighting a court battle since long. Jenny assured Diwanjee that she would help settle the case using her political clout. She even claimed she had done M.A. and L.L.B. and that she works as a lawyer at the high court. Jenny introduced Suresh Rawal as her junior advocate and demanded Rs40 lakh as fees and a sum of Rs 5 lakh separately which would be given to the collector.
Diwanjee gave Rs 20 lakh in advance in December 2011.
When nothing transpired till May 2012, Diwanjee made inquiries about her. Realising he had been duped, he lodged a police case. Since both Jenny and Raval were already arrested by Ellisbridge police on Sunday, Navrangpura police have demanded their custody through a transfer warrant for further probe.
