A team of Satellite police is on its way to Mumbai take custody of Naresh Dave, against whom a red corner notice was issued by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with a dowry harassment case registered in 2005.
"The team will get his custody and may return by Friday morning," police inspector, Satellite police station, MH Vasani told DNA. Vasani further said that a dowry harassment case was registered against him in the year 2005 and for which the Gheekantha court had issued an arrest warrant against him. He was arrested by the immigration staff of Sahara Airport in Mumbai.
Dave is wanted by the police after a complaint was registered against him by his alleged fourth wife, Varsha Dave. Varsha is a resident of Gandhinagar and was married to Dave some years back. Dave and his parents allegedly began demanding dowry from Varsha, who was staying with her in-laws.
When Varsha's parents refused to give in to the demands, she was sent home by her in-laws. Varsha in her complaint has mentioned that before marrying her, Dave had divorced three women - Vaishali Patel, Niti Vyas and Nita Bhatt. "He got his green card after marrying Bhatt, but divorced her soon after their marriage," the police source said.
The police source further said that after marrying Varsha, Dave went to US. "Initially he demanded Rs2 lakh from her to help her get her US Visa, but she could not give him the money," the police source said.
After a few months he demanded Rs3 lakh for a business to be set up in the US and again Varsha's parents were not able to pay it. Varsha meanwhile was harassed by her in-laws and was forced to move to her parent's home. Her in-laws were arrested immediately after the complaint, while Dave had been absconding.
