A business delegation from Karachi on Friday invited chief minister Narendra Modi to visit Pakistan, and also called for exploring greater co-operation in trade & business between Gujarat and Pakistan. However, sources indicate that Modi is unlikely to accept the invitation.

A delegation of Karachi Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), in Ahmedabad to take part in a trade exhibition, met the chief minister at his official residence in Gandhinagar. Officials present in the meeting said that the meeting took place in an extremely cordial environment. They said that the Pakistani delegation was particularly impressed by the Gujarat model of development, transparent policies, and the CM's dynamism.

Describing Modi as a visionary, the team invited him to visit Pakistan. A reaction could not be obtained from the CMO, but sources close to the CM indicated that he was unlikely to accept the invitation. The delegation also requested him to address the heads of Pakistani industries and businesses on the Gujarat model of development through video-conferencing.

Pakistani businessmen, who presented a shawl to the chief minister, also held a detailed discussion with him about the various ways to develop trade relations between Gujarat and Pakistan.

It also suggested launch of a direct flight between Ahmedabad and Karachi, and urged Modi to raise the issue with the central government.

The delegation had also met the CM following the inauguration of Asia Inter-Dye Exhibition on Wednesday. The delegation swarmed around Modi and posed for photographs with him. Modi happily obliged them, and also gave out his autographs.
