The country’s most reputed management entrance examination — CAT — will be conducted by the Indian Institute of Management (IIM)-Lucknow in 2010. IIM-Ahmedabad, which conducted the prestigious examination in 2008 and 2009 in association with IIM-Bangalore, handed over the responsibility of the CAT convener to the IIM-L faculty on June 1.
Talking about the change, IIMA professor and former convener of CAT, Satish Deodhar, said the task of handing over of the responsibility for the test to IIM-L was over. “We have passed on to them all the files and folders, including the advertisements and the results,” Deodhar said.
The responsibility of conducting the online CAT-2009 was shouldered by the directors of IIMA and IIM-Bangalore, with professor Deodhar as the convener. However, CAT 2010 will be handled by IIM-L and IIM, Calcutta. Professor of IIM-L, Himanshu Rai, will be the convener of the 2010 exam.
Rai, who had earlier pursued his Fellow Programme in Management at IIMA, said, “We will be reviewing each and every aspect of the test and changes, if necessary, will be introduced.” He said the process for the 2010 examination has already been set in motion and changes, if any, will be made public through the CAT website and the media.
“We will maintain transparency in the entire exam process and, for the advantage of candidates, will keep them updated about changes on time,” he said. Talking about the status of the partnership for conducting CAT this year, Rai said.
“The partnership with Prometric will continue this year too. Prometric had roped in NIIT for conducting the test last year and it is their discretion this year too.”
