A notorious criminal, Pradeep Niranja Kaviswar, alias Pradeep Don, was shot dead on Sunday afternoon near his residence.
A notorious criminal, Pradeep Niranja Kaviswar, alias Pradeep Don, was shot dead on Sunday afternoon near his residence in Limda Ni Pole at Bala Hanuman under Khadia police station. Khadia police said two persons, including one Jignesh Ganga Ram Soni, and an unidentified person, killed Don while he was taking a stroll with his dog a few metres from his residence.
Pradeep Don’s brother, Atul Kaviswar, and his sister were in the house when, after finishing lunch, Don went out for a stroll. When Don was standing near Bipin Binding Store at Pushkarna Ni Pole, two persons, Jignesh Soni and an unidentified 30-35 year old man, arrived there on a motorcycle.
The two persons went to Don and had a conversation with him. Uday Upadhay, an eyewitness who is a friend of Pradeep Don’s brother, Atul, was sitting just a few metres from the spot where the murder occurred. “Jignesh and the other person were talking to Pradeep Don,” he said. “Later during their conversation, Soni embraced Don. At this, the other person (who was watching them all the while) took out a pistol and shot Don from point-blank range, injuring him seriously.”
Upadhay, who was witness to the entire incident, ran towards them. He managed to catch Soni but the other person took out his gun and asked Upadhay to go back to his house. Then Soni and his accomplice managed to escape from the spot on a motorbike.
On hearing screams outside, Don’s maid informed his brother about the incident. In the meantime, the owner of Bipin Bookbinding Store, Bipinbhai, and his wife also came out of their house. Pradeep Don was rushed to VS Hospital where the doctors declared him ‘brought dead’.
